The Handless Pianist

Written and directed by Ori Sinai

Genre: Animation, Short, Drama

The handless pianist, is about a man who used to play the piano to a professional standard before he lost both his hands. I feel that because we dont no how he lost his arms the film is given a lot of depth and meaning. The mood of the short is set from the begining with the balck and white and when we don’t hear any sound until the man starts to play the piano with his head. When this happens we have no other emotion to offer except for sympathy. When the man stops we feel as if he has given up, but he then tries to play by using his legs. He then stops again, and as the audience you think to your self what other part of his body can you use to play the piano. But then out of no where we see these aniamated hands which have been drawn on to show, what the man is thinking in his head. The man is playing the piano through memeory of the sounds each key makes and the animated hands are just showing what hes thinking.
